Some updates on Government regulations
GARDA VETTING
- In line with the "Vetting Act" please note that any parents helping with coaching, swimming, supervision an / or giving talks to a class will need to have school specific Garda Vetting in place. This will also apply to TY students who come to our school on work experience.
- Forms for completion can be obtained from the school
POD (Primary Online Database)
The Department of Education and Skills maintain an electronic database of primary school pupils including their PPS number which we are required to return annually. Please note this is a requirement of the Department and not the school.
Cross Country - Sligo IT
Well done to all the children who represented our school in the Cross Country race on Saturday the 30th of September. Check out the Active blog for photos of the event.

Class of 2017
Another year over and another 6th class we say farewell to. We wish Christopher, Adam, Katie, Ella and Megan all the very best as they embark on a new venture in their lives in September. They have been a wonderful class and a joy to teach. Well done and enjoy the holidays.

- A Clothing Collection to raise funds on Monday next 21st November. Please leave your bags outside the school on Monday morning.
- The Student Council have organised a Jumble Sale taking place in the school on Tuesday next 22nd November.
Welcome back to a fun packed exciting year ahead. We extend a warm welcome to our new infants who have settled in wonderfully. Our school has already been very busy with various events e.g. taking part in our school mass, Sligo Athletics Fest and Cross County to name but a few.

Huge congrats to all three schools of the parish who celebrated their Graduation Mass last Tuesday in St Thereses church Ballintogher. A special word of congratulations to our own 6th class. St. Michael's are hosting a talk on 'Nutrition for Health and Performance in Kids and Adolescents' on Thursday 9th June in Ballintogher Community Centre at 7pm. 6th Class Movie on Road Safety

..As we come to the end of the school year 2014-2015 I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and enthusiasm throughout the year. Throughout the many activities which your children have been involved in, you have been there at all times to lend support and it has made an enormous difference. We hope every pupil has enjoyed their year and the many events which have taken place - tours, outings, sports days and matches, music lessons, Grandparents Day, Green Flag Day, School Science Fair, Seachtain na Gaeilge, performances in the Hawks Well theatre and the development of our School Garden to name but a few. We wish our 6th class every possible success as they move on to secondary school, they have been a pleasure to have in our school and we hope to see them again soon. For all other classes we wish you a wonderful summer holidays after all their hard work and we look forward to hearing of all your adventures when we return on 31st AUGUST 2015.

As there are so many events taking place within the school this month, the following list has been compiled to help everyone keep tabs on what is occuring. Please take note of the following dates:
ST. TERESA'S N.S. ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR
A big word of thanks to all the parents and members of our school community who took time out of their day to join us at our Science Fair. A great day was had by all and the children had a wonderful time showing all the skills and experiments which they have been developing throughout the year. SCHOOL BANK
Our school bank is now open for business and can be availed of by pupils any Wednesday during lunch break. Well done to the members of our Student Council who are overseeing the initative. The bank is available to pupils from 1st - 6th class
A NEW GREEN FLAG FOR ST. TERESA'S N.S.
A big congratulations to Ms Wynne and all the members of the Green Schools Committee who have guided our school toward achieveing another Green Flag!! Well done to all the pupils and parents who parked the cars and took to the road for out NCT (No Car Tuesday) Days each playing their part in securing this achievement for our school. A celebration will take place later in this school year - more information to come.
SCHOOL TOURS
Destinations for our school tours have now been decided upon. Pupils from Infants will be heading to 5star Fun in Grange, 1st - 3rd classes will be having an action packed day with trips to Funny Bones, The Garda Station and the Playground while 4th - 6th class pupils will be travelling to Lough Gara Stables and Country Pursuits. We hope tha everyone has a fantastic time!

Confirmation
Congratulations to all our 6th class pupils who celebrated their Confirmation on Saturday, 25th April in Killenummery Church. Well done to all of them for preparing so carefully and we hope they all had a wonderful day
Choir Practise
Choir Practise will be starting early this month to prepare for the First Holy Communion ceremony which will be held in St. Teresa's Church on Saturday, 9th May. Anyone wishing to take part is asked to inform their teachers (3rd - 6th classes) and remember we will also be looking for some soloists to perform specific hymns
Guitar Recital
Well done to the pupils in MsMcHugh's room (1st - 3rd) on their wonderful guitar performance on Tuesday, 14th April. Thank you also to all the parents who attended.
Clothing Collection
As part of our ongoing fundraising efforts we have organised Irish Clothing Collection to collect used clothes on Tuesday, 23rd April. We ask for your support in this effort by asking neighbours, friends and family to donate any unwanted clothing, shoes and bags

The BUGHOUSE BAND
Many thanks to the Bughouse Band who performed for the children on Tuesday, 24th March. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to MsMcHugh for organising the event
Easter Egg Hunt
Many thanks to our Parents' Association for organising the Easter Egg Hunt for the children in the school. It was a great event and thoroughly enjoyed by every child.

No Car Tuesday (NCT ) Day 04/03/2014 - What a success!
Congratulations to our Boys and Girls!
Congratulations to our 5th & 6th class boys and girls who competed in the County Walk Race Finals in Sligo IT on the 4th April 2014. The 5th class boys and 6th class girls secured the team silver medals while Eva Delahunt (6th class) and Ciarán McKeon (5th class) won 1st and 3rd respectively in the individual events.
We wish them all every success as they compete in the Connacht Finals in Claremorris on Saturday, 12th April. Details regarding times and venues will be forwarded once we get them. Congratulations to all who participated!

Wow! What a wonderful day we had at our first school Science Fair! The number of parents who were able to take time out of their busy schedules was incredible and helped make the day so memorable for the children. For any who were unable to join us, keep an eye on our Activities page - we will be posting some pictures after Easter. Well done again to all the pupils who worked so hard and performed so wonderfully on the day - you made you school and your families very proud! Activities
FRIENDSHIP WEEK 2014
"Friendship Week" will take place in our school from 31st March 2014 - 4th April, during the week children from all classes will be involved in activities and lessons which will highlight the importance of treating others with respect and courtesy and how to develop positive relationships with those around you.
COIRM GAEL LINN 2014
Congratulations to the pupils of 5th & 6th class who performed their play "An Piobaire Hamlin" as Gaeilge at the Hawks Well Theatre, Sligo on Tiesday, 11th March. Their performance was of an excellent standard and saw them return home with two awards including an award for "outstanding acting". Congratulations to all the pupils who worked so hard.
INDOOR HURLINS COUNTY FINALS
Well done to our Girls Indoor Hurling team who contested the County Indoor Hurling Final on Sunday, 9th March in the Teeling Centre, Sligo. In spite of their valiant effortas they were unfortunately defeated by Killeenduff N.S. however, the girls team displayed an incredible level of sportsmanship and fairplay throughout.
