SCIENCE FAIR in St. Teresa's N.S., 1st May 2015Wow! What an amazing day of Science we had in the school on the 1st of May 2015. Every child from Infants - 6th class participated in creating and exhibiting experiments and events for our visitors to enjoy. Over the past few weeks and months each class has been busy preparing their experiments and displays and finalising the details of what they had decided to put on show and finally the big day arrived. Everyone was amazed at the turn out of people who took time out of their busy day to come and explore Science with us - some of them even participating in activities!!! A great number of parents, siblings, grandparents and neighbours went from classroom to classroom exploring, questioning and investigating the range of work which was on show. Within the Infant classroom the focus was on "Floating & Sinking", "Sorting Materials", "Magnetism" and "Making Raisins Dance!!" If you visited our 1st, 2nd & 3rd class pupils you would learn how to make butter, how a "Car Rocket" could be created and how a flower gets its water! 4th & 5th class pupils stunned our visitors with their Centerfuge experiment, creating a Lava Lamp and exhibiting the wonderful work done by the class in the school garden Within the 6th class room there were a wide range of experiments to behold including "How to create an ElectroMagnet", "The uses of Hydraulics and Pneumatics in creating children's toys", "How much sugar is REALLY in your food" and many more interetsing experiments! So many thanks again for all who joined us on the day and helped make our Science Fair a great success! |
