Maths Work

19th May 2026

This week in Maths, Junior Infants are exploring the concept of capacity through a range of fun and engaging activities. The children are engaging in online maths games and interactive activities to help develop their understanding of full, empty, more and less.

Using a variety of containers, the children enjoyed hands-on learning by comparing and ordering them from the lowest to the highest capacity and from the highest to the lowest capacity. They had great fun estimating, discussing and testing their ideas while developing important maths vocabulary and problem-solving skills

Meanwhile, Senior Infants are learning how to combine two and three numbers using ten frames. The children use sets of two and three different coloured counters to help them count, add and explore number combinations in a fun and visual way.

Through hands-on activities, the children are recognising number patterns, developing their counting skills and building confidence with early addition. They are enjoying working together to make different totals and explain their mathematical thinking using the ten frames and counters.
