Geography: Mountains
18th Feb 2026
This week in Geography we began work on the topic of mountains. To start we looked at the Earth and its link with mountains. We learned that the Earth is composed of four main layers—crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core—with mountains forming on the outermost, rocky skin through the movement of tectonic plates. These plates collide to create massive mountain ranges.
Using playdough we created our own model Earth with the main layers to understand this concept.
