We had a lovely day celebrating Happy Heart Day today. It was wonderful to see all the red and pink being worn today, well done to you all for making a great effort. The day was jam packed from start to finish. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole school art activity this morning where we gathered in the hall to draw together as we listened to music.
Thank you to local paramedic John Quinn who called with the ambulance and demonstrated to 3rd - 6th Classes how to administer CPR to someone in need. John then spoke to Junior & Senior Infants and 1st & 2nd Class, about who to contact the emergency services by dialling 999/112. John also showed them a defibrillator and how to use it. The highlight of John's visit was when the younger classes got to see inside the ambulance and got to turn on the sirens and the lights.
After lunch we went on our healthy heart walk to St. Michael's football pitch, the PJ Linnane Park. It was freezing cold but we weren't long warming up once we walked our lap of the pitch and the sun shone high in the sky.
We had some lovely heart shaped treats throughout the day.
1st - 4th class did some balloon relay races later on this afternoon whilst 5th & 6th did a Valentine's Day table quiz.
