Hot & Cold
20th Jan 2026
In Science this week we are learning about hot and cold items. We did an experiment today to find out the hottest part of the classroom. We placed ice cubes on plates in 3 locations around our classroom:
1. The radiator,
2. Our Sacred Space,
3. Senior Infants table.
We left them for a few hours, monitoring how quickly or slowly the ice cubes were melting.
We found that the radiator was the warmest part of the classroom with the ice cubes melted completely. The Senior Infant table was the next warmest part of the classroom, with a little of the ice cube not fully melted. Our Sacred Space was the coldest part of out classroom with quite a lot of the ice cubes not melted.
