Learning times tables is a fundamental skill for mastering maths and strengthens our ability to perform mental maths. In our class we use games to help us learn our tables. It makes learning tables playful and fun!
We play games such as "Relay Tables", Hit the Button and "Hit the table".
Relay tables is where two teams take turns to fill in the tables wheel to see how many each team can achieve in a given time and Hit the Table is played by getting the children to write the multiples of a given table on cards and display them in front of each other. Then when a table is called out eg 6 x 4, the fastest person in a pair to " hit the table" is the winner!!
